St. Vincent de Paul was a Catholic priest who died in 1660. A venerated Catholic saint, he dedicated his life to serving the poor. Celebrated for his compassion, humility and generosity, St. Vincent de Paul is known as the Great Apostle of Charity.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul was started by Frederic Ozanam, who was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1997.
A 20-year student, Blessed Frederic Ozanam started the society to help the poor.
